Mahyar is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and a research scientist at the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation in Vancouver. He is trained in both clinical pharmacology and epidemiology. Dr. Etminan's main expertise is in identifying rare adverse drug events using large administrative databases. He is an expert in methodology of randomized controlled trials and observational studies. Dr. Etminan is the author of the only research article that to date that has identified the risk of bone necrosis with different oral bisphosphonates. He is also a co-investigator on several CIHR funded research grants looking at the effect of various drug classes on the risk cardiovascular and respiratory conditions. Dr. Etminan has more than 60 publications, many of which are published in high impact journals including JAMA and BMJ.
